2022 BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship
The BFGoodrich Motor Sport Australia Off Road Championship has confirmed the annual Kalgoorlie Desert Race has been named as the 6th event for the 2022 Championship.
2022 will see the Kalgoorlie Desert Race finishing off the National Off-Road Racing Circuit as the final round of the 2022 AORC – BF Goodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship with previous rounds being held in St George NSW, Pooncarrie NSW, Finke NT, Loveday SA and Hindmarsh VIC.
“To be selected to host such a prestigious event of the Off-Road Racing calendar really is testament to the reputation of the Kalgoorlie Desert Race as being a challenging and one of a kind track. I am proud of the progress the Club, Committee and Volunteers, past and present, has achieved since the first race in 2017 and the vision of one day being an event watched internationally realised.” Gus Lacey, Founder of the Kalgoorlie Desert Race said.
“Despite the huge success of the 2020 KDR, COVID and border restrictions saw the Kalgoorlie Round of the National circuit cancelled in 2021 so we are excited to welcome interstate and international competitors to Kalgoorlie to this years event and showcase exactly what Kalgoorlie has to offer. The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder and the wider business community are valuable supporters of this event which brings a huge contingent of competitors and spectators to the region and the people of Kalgoorlie Boulder look forward to welcoming the AORC to the West ”

THE KALGOORLIE DESERT RACE
The Kalgoorlie Desert Race joined the Kalgoorlie-Boulder regions events calendar in 2017. In the past three years the off road race has generated significant economic benefit to the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region, with an estimated direct financial impact of up to $1.256 million to the local economy (REMPLAN).
The Kalgoorlie Desert Race brings together participants from both the motorcycling and four-wheeled off road racing world, as man and machine face the ultimate test of endurance against the untamed wild.
Kalgoorlie’s red sandy tracks and loamy bush offers competitors the perfect terrain, while the close proximity of the course to the Kalgoorlie town centre allows easy access for both local and
non-local spectators.
This, the fourth year of the Kalgoorlie Desert Race, sees the track settling into it’s own unique groove and flow; which is gaining much praise and excitement from the ever increasing field of competitors.
The approximately 135 kilometre course offers a wide variety of terrains, flat dead flat salt lakes through to sandy wooded sections and a range of well formed berms to really rail though. the Kalgoorlie Desert Race has something that every competitor and spectator will enjoy.
The course offers a fuel stop approximately half way through and the course being essentially a circuit makes it easy for competitors to be based at a single location for the weekend.
